In Europe, esp. Denmark&Norway, who are non-western immigrants? Is a non-white American a non westerner there?
No. Non-western immigrants are those from Africa, eastern Europe, Asia and south America. In Norway we have the most immigrants from Pakistan, Poland and Somalia (actually the most come from Sweden, but those don’t really count as immigrants). A non-white American will be considered a western immigrant, but if I passed an African American person on the street I would assume that they wee African, seeing as there are a lot more African immigrants in Norway than Americans:) I believe that an American immigrant will be much faster integrated than say, someone from Southern Europe. The minute you speak English people will accept you more easily than if you only speak french or italian or whatever. (Not that everyone is not accepted)
